Limited Edition: HMS VICTORY IN THE ATLANTIC £28.00

HMS VICTORY IN THE GREAT CHASE
Marine artist Dennis Andrews has contributed to the Trafalgar 200 year by depicting HMS Victory returning to European waters after carrying Nelson to the Caribbean in pursuit of the French Admiral Villeneuve. The transatlantic chase was the precursor to the Battle of Trafalgar, the 200th anniversary of which is commemorated on October 21 this year.

There are two versions of HMS VICTORY IN THE GREAT CHASE. One is this limited edition digital print derived from an original oil painting. The original oil painting will also be available for viewing - and for sale - at a future date.

Dennis found painting HMS Victory at sea to be his most challenging painting yet. He says: Today she is preserved in dry-dock and I thought sending Victory to sea again would be a majestic salute to both the ship and Nelson. The pursuit of the French fleet, under Admiral Villeneuve, across the Atlantic by Nelson's fleet, with Victory at its head, was the dramatic prologue to Trafalgar. From a technical point of view, there were many details that I hope to have realised authentically - from the way in which a big ship of line like Victory pushed aside the sea, to the complex rigging and other idiosyncracies of wooden warships.

The Victory print is a Limited Edition of 350 - each print Signed and Numbered by the artist. The print is available in a Standard or Special version - Standard is on Archival Matte Art Paper size 29.7cm x 42cm (£28) - Special is on Watercolour Fine Art Paper size 32.9cm x 48.3cm (£34). A Certificate of Authentication is provided with each print.
